PR

I ran my personal best in the mile today.  Eight minutes.  I was really surprised when I heard that.  I guess all this running is finally paying off.

Annie Get Your Gun

The past week has been consumed with Annie.  There were three days of full dress rehearsals followed by four days of performances.  The kids were amazing, but for me the best part was seeing some of the talented people we have on staff.  Cindi produced some beautiful backdrops for the AP room not to mention Sandi's spectacular piano playing.

Here is Sitting Bull

Amanda and I honking away in costume (my favorite part)!

I completely enjoyed being a part of the musical and my lips should recover soon.

Afternoon Shots

Miss Kidd came in to read Alphabet Mystery to us.  I hadn't planned it, but as we read we found that x was the missing letter in the book and x is the letter of the week for us.  Man I'm a great teacher!

Centers often becomes a "fly by the seat of your pants" time for me.  Today's brilliant last minute decision was to make a graph based on which of the 3 Corduroy books they liked the best.  They were to draw a picture and explain why they liked it.  As you can see an overwhelming amount of the class prefered A Pocket for Corduroy.  They were swayed by the snow scene.

Chonies

"Mikias, I can see your chonies!" yells Joey.

Apparently I'm the only one who knows that that means.  None of my fellow teachers has ever heard that term before, but I find it to be a great way of telling kids to pick up their pants.  And it's even more fun when I hear it coming out of my kids' mouths.

Coach Montoya

A couple of weeks ago the wife of our track coach informed me that she was given the authority to bribe me into helping with track...because I'm the only girl who likes to run.  I'm still trying to figure out what type of payment I will demand from them, but in the meantime I'm the new second assistant to the track coach at VCS.  What that means is that I work out with them a couple of times a week and I might get to do some traveling for a meet.  It's pretty low key.  Today was my first day on the job and I was able to keep up with the kids...not bad for these old legs.

Decorating the Easter Tree

At least this is how it worked in our house.

Step One:  Buy pussywillows.

Step Two:  Visit an Easter Market

Step Three:  Choose eggs from the thousands available

Step Four:  Hang them in the pussywillows.

It's apparently a very common Austrian tradition.
